Gary Elton
A keen birder from the tender age of nine, Gary spent the majority of his early years birding near his childhood home, in and around North West London. Local patches in later years included Wormwood Scrubs and Hilfield Park reservoir, where at this latter site he also served as site warden for 12 years on behalf of the Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust. Gary also served as a Herts Bird Club committee member and has contributed to several birding publications and made several television appearances. Living now in Norfolk, and playing an active part in birding there, working part time at Holme Bird Observatory. He is a qualified ringer involved in running a local constant effort ringing site for the British Trust for Ornithology. Tour leading has become a major part of his working life, and recent destinations include Israel, Northern Greece, Iceland, Spain, Bulgaria and The Gambia, with other visits to Morocco, Switzerland, Mexico, and North and South America. His other work also revolves around birds, primarily working off shore, gathering data on seabirds and cetaceans.
Andy Mckee
Andy now lives in Norfolk based in Heacham and has organised and successfully led birding trips throughout the UK, since 1999 (primarily in the south-east). These have been mainly small group tours for 1-4 people. Previously based in Kent and recently relocated to Norfolk. Andy also served on the Executive Committee of the Kent Ornithological Society between 2002 and 2004. During that period he co-designed and administered the Society’s Website, took on the role of list owner and moderator of Kent’s web-based e-mail group KOSNet and served on the ‘Future of KOS’ sub-committee. He also served on the Committee of the Sandwich Bay Bird Observatory Trust during the 1970’s dealing directly with members of the public where he spent every spare moment in pursuit of birds and obtaining a BTO ringing licence. Andy started birding at the age of nine travelling in later extensively in search of birds, has a particular interest in bird migration and seabirds and has worked as an ecological consultant on numerous projects throughout the UK.
